    Englander Pellet Stove Control Board E-Codes ( Reasons & Easy Solutions )

    Error codes are alpha-numeric codes that appear on the control board and indicate a fault within your pellet stove. If your Englander pellet stove shows error codes, then it is not a good sign. 
    Different error codes represent different problems and in this article we will discuss common Englander pellet stove error codes and their simple solutions. We hope this will help you to solve your Englander pellet stove problems.

    E-1 (Vacuum Loss)

    Englander pellet stove error code E1 indicates the vacuum Loss of the pellet stove system. It occurs when the exhaust flow fails to keep the “flue blockage” switch close.

    • Faulty exhaust blower blocked flue pipe
    • Cracked vacuum hose
    • Faulty wiring connection
    • Faulty vacuum switch

    Solution:

    • If Exhaust blower not coming, check the blower itself and its wires. Fix or replace the exhaust blower.
    • Clean the firepot, impingement plate (or baffle plate) , and heat exchangers regularly
    • Clear out the debris and clogged dirt of the exhaust and air intake pipe
    • Keep the exhaust pipes short and wide (at least 4” in diameter)
    • Make sure that the air intake pipe is at least 3” wide in diameter
    • Cracked vacuum hose connection at the exhaust housing and you need to replace the vacuum hose.

    Recommended that an ash removal vacuum be utilized to perform cleaning on these units.

    E-2 (Failure to Start)

    Common causes for E-2 codes:

    • Igniter plugged with ash
    • Faulty ignitor position
    • Bad fire sensor 

    Solution:

    • Check the cartridge heater and make sure it is burning perfectly.  If the cartridge heater does not glow, Replace the Ignition.
    • Clean the burn area regularly with a vacuum to make sure there are no cloggings.
    • Clear out the dirt clogged in the ignitor
    • Reposition the ignitor in accordance with the manual(If the igniter rod is positioned too close to the hole into the pot, the air cannot get past the tip to light the pellets. Adjusting the igniter back to allow for a larger air gap.)
    • Make sure that the fire sensor connection is perfectly secured
    • Check if the blower motor is working properly
    • Use well-processed pellets 

    E-3 (Over Temperature Limit)

    This unit has the ability to moderate itself should the unit attain too high a temperature.  In some cases, the unit will display an E-3.

    • Dirty stove
    • Plugged or inoperable room fan
    • Running the blower speed below the heat range
    • Burning anything other than pellets 

    Solution:

    • Clear out the ash buildup in the unit
    • Make sure the fan is perfectly working
    • Avoid burning anything else other than pellets such as grains, corn, or cherry pits
    • Keep the exhaust air path clear

    E-4 (Time and Temperature Fault Code)

    This code is displayed based on a drop in the exhaust temperature. 

    • Pellets aren’t reaching the combustion chamber, faulty auger motor
    • Fuels are not good at all, or the pellets are wet

    Solution:

    • Check the auger motor to see if there is anything stuck
    • Closely examine the wiring of the auger motor
    • Make sure that the pellets are dry and in proportionate size. Otherwise, the stove will do a problem and you need to fix your pellet stove
    • Don’t keep the pellet feeding speed too low
