After a season, you reactivate your Quadra Fire pellet stove, but the pellet stove won't light up, there could be several reasons behind this.
In the article we will mention the causes and solutions for the Quadra-fire pellet stove won't start problem.
Below we describe all the common reasons why Quadra Fire pellet stoves fail to ignite and simple solutions.
1. Bad Ignitor
When your Quadra-Fire pellet fuel stove won't ignite, the first thing you want to look at is your igniter. Bad Igniter can also render the entire stove useless.
To check if your igniter is working, take an ohm reader and use it to test the igniter. If the reading is around 50 ohms, then the igniter is fine. Otherwise, you have a bad igniter and need to Replace Igniter .
Solution:
Here's how to replace a faulty Quadra-fire pellet stove ignition.
- Turn off the pellet stove electricity supply.
- Remove the hopper lids to reach the ignitor.
- Detach all types of connections attached to the ignitor.
- Use a screwdriver to disassemble the ignitor.
- Remove the old ignitor and clean the inside of the burn pot.
- Place the new ignitor in its position and tighten up the bolts.
2. Bad Airflow
If there is too much or too little airflow in the stove, the pellet fuel will not burn properly in the pellet fuel stove.
Solution:
- In the case of insufficient airflow: Check and clean the vents and airpipe. Make sure that the draft is perfectly open as well. Perform a complete cleaning of the equipment, including all cavities where dust may accumulate, including the exhaust ports.
- In case of abundance of airflow: Close the draft a bit to decrease the airflow. Make sure there is no leak or any hole for excessive air to enter.
3. Faulty Electrical Component
It could be a blown fuse causing it to not start.
Solution:
- Turn off the pellet stove electricity supply.
- Check the fuse in the junction box (7amps).
- Pull the fuse out of its position and if it is blown, replace it.
- Install the new fuse by pushing it into its place.
- Now start your pellet fuel stove. If the fuse blows again, call an electrician.
4. Thermocouple failure
The thermocouple performs a basic funtion that lets the stove keep working.
Solution:
- Inspect the thermocouple and the cover.
- The cover needs to make contact with the end of the thermocouple.
- The thermocouple and the cover should extend approximately 1” (25mm) into the firepot.
- Push the reset button. The thermocouple test lights located on the control box will automatically turn on; When the thermocouple reaches 200°F (93°C) the GREEN LIGHT comes on, and at 1000°F (538°C) the RED LIGHT comes on. If they fail to turn on after the fire starts, the thermocouple may need replacement.
- Check the control box.
How to Clean and Maintain Quadra Fire Pellet Stove
Dirt is the root of all kinds of pellet fuel stove problems. If the vents and burn pot are dirty, then the lack of airflow will prevent ignition. Overall, a pellet stove that is too dirty will only affect its proper start-up and use.
You should clean your pellet stove at least once a year to keep every part working.
- Clean the vents and draft path regularly.
- Clean the leftover unburnt pellets and ash to remove the air supply blockage.
- Ensure proper delivery of ammunition to the fire.
- Clean the pellet stove properly. Make sure to clean the ashes after every session.
- Use the correct size of pellet fuel.
